About This Role

Northwest Spanish School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated professional to join our team as a Lead Teacher in our PreK 4 classroom.


Founded in 2014, our mission is to offer educational programs based on a creative curriculum that develops higher-order thinking skills. We integrate the Spanish language, literature, and culture into every aspect of learning. We are proud to be an award-winning program with a 4-star rating, the highest possible recognition for excellence in program administration, teacher-child interactions, classroom environment, and director and teachers' qualifications. Join our team and help us build a learning community of independent thinkers who value and respect others.

This is a part-time position from 8:30 am to 2 pm. The person taking this teaching position will collaborate with an assigned United Way mentor in accordance with our PK Partnership with Round Rock ISD. Please apply only if you meet all the requirements listed below.


What You'll Do
  • Plan age-appropriate activities to help students master standards and objectives
  • Make modifications or accommodations to the curriculum to serve the child’s individual needs
  • Understand the 4 domains of learning
  • Apply second-language acquisition teaching methodologies
  • Follow school policies, State minimum standards, and standards mandated by other accreditations such as Texas Rising Stars.
  • Manage a classroom of fifteen 4-year-old students
  • Send daily communications to parents through our school app
  • Prepare a weekly classroom newsletter to parents to communicate about what the students are doing in the classroom, upcoming events, and reminders
  • Perform students' assessments
  • Attend a weekly planning meeting, required professional development, school events, and all-staff meetings
  • Ensure a safe and risk-free environment.
  • Collaborate with United Way mentors in accordance with our PK Partnership with Round Rock ISD

Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field and 8 years of experience in Early Childhood,
  • Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field and be actively enrolled in an ECE program,
  • Hold a Montessori Certification, OR
  • Hold a Child Development Associate degree

OTHER SKILLS

  • BILINGUAL Spanish language proficient (native Spanish speaker preferable) and English language proficient
  • Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control
  • Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience
  • Collaborate with coworkers and deal with ambiguity
  • Communicate in both English and Spanish with parents, students, and other employees
  • Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures
  • Knowledge of the use of technology to communicate with parents and school management, or for educational purposes
  • Physically able to sit on the floor for short periods of time and carry up to 25 pounds
