Children's Hunger Alliance (CHA) is seeking an Afterschool & Summer Food Service Specialist to coordinate the application, onboarding, training, and ongoing compliance monitoring for partner sites participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Afterschool At-Risk (ASAR) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) across Southwest Ohio. This role also supports local outreach initiatives to expand program reach and establish new community partnerships.
As the Afterschool & Summer Food Service Specialist, you will:
- Coordinate the annual site application process and food order launches for regional afterschool and summer program partners.
- Conduct daily field visits to monitor site operations and ensure compliance with USDA, state, and agency regulations for ASAR and SFSP.
- Provide hands-on support, retraining, corrective action management, and review resolutions for sites facing compliance challenges.
- Facilitate annual regulatory and operational training for partner site staff, including program rules, administrative procedures, and required software platforms.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for participating sites, providing responsive customer service, guidance, and daily administrative support.
- Review and adjust daily food orders based on student attendance and participation trends to help minimize waste.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with local community organizations, faith-based groups, and program stakeholders.
- Research, identify, and recruit prospective partner sites, guiding them through the onboarding process for ASAR and SFSP.
- Partner with the Claims Services Team and internal departments to support accurate recordkeeping, efficient food delivery workflows, and seamless service execution.
- Participate in team, regional, and statewide meetings; assist with statewide meal donation requests and distribution logistics; and complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Early Childhood Education, Communications, Social Work, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence speaking and presenting to groups.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, self-motivated, and committed to the agency's mission.
- Hybrid office environment paired with extensive field work.
- Must have Valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
- Required travel up to 60% of the time
We Offer:
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance options
- Pre-tax savings options including FSA and HSA (with employer contributions)
- Employer-provided life insurance and long-term disability coverage
- 401(k) with Safe Harbor contribution and employer match
- Generous PTO starting at 19 days, plus 11 paid holidays
- Paid parental leave and additional leave options (bereavement, jury duty, etc.)
- Tuition and continuing education reimbursement
- Employee Assistance Program and wellness initiatives
- Mileage reimbursement and free parking
- Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
- Optional benefits including supplemental life, disability, legal, and identity protection plans
- Flexible schedule
