Job Description:
As a Resident Engineer, you will deliver reactive and proactive activities according to Service Level Agreement to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. Provides direct post-sales systems on-site technical support for reactive and proactive customers. Each position maintains a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring clear business and technical solution alignment, clarifying customer needs and ensuring that they are met. Jobs are responsible for company Total Customer Experience as well as the revenue growth, profitability, and account retention.
This role requires you to work on site at the customer''s office in Columbus, OH.
Wireless Network Operations & Optimization
Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise wireless infrastructure, including Access Points (APs), controllers, and cloud-managed platforms such as Juniper Mist, Cisco Catalyst Wireless, Aruba Central, or equivalent.
Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize large-scale wireless networks.
Perform wireless capacity planning and coverage analysis to ensure optimal user experience.
Tune RF environments through channel planning, transmit power optimization, and WLAN design best practices.
Monitor and improve wireless service levels, client health, and overall network performance.
RF Engineering & Interference Analysis
Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for wireless RF technologies and troubleshooting.
Diagnose and resolve complex RF issues including:
Co-Channel Interference (CCI)
Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI)
Hidden Node conditions
Multipath and signal reflections
Signal attenuation caused by building materials and environmental factors
Non-Wi-Fi interference sources such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, IoT devices, cordless phones, and microwave ovens
Analyze and interpret:
RSSI
SNR
Noise Floor
Channel Utilization
Airtime Utilization
Retry Rates and Client Health Metrics
Conduct wireless site surveys, predictive modeling, and post-deployment validation.
Wireless Client Experience & Roaming Optimization
Troubleshoot and optimize client connectivity, performance, and roaming behavior.
Investigate and resolve:
Sticky client issues
Authentication failures
DHCP and DNS-related wireless issues
Roaming instability and handoff delays
Voice and video performance issues over Wi-Fi
Configure and support advanced wireless features including:
802.11k
802.11v
802.11r
Band Steering
Load Balancing
Dynamic RF Optimization
Advanced Troubleshooting & Incident Response
Lead the investigation and resolution of complex wireless incidents affecting business-critical services.
Perform packet captures and protocol analysis using tools such as:
Wireshark
Mist Packet Capture
Spectrum Analyzers
Ekahau
AirMagnet
Correlate wireless issues with:
Wired network infrastructure
VLANs and routing
NAC/802.1X authentication systems
RADIUS services
Firewall and security policies
Application performance
Monitoring, Analytics & Automation
Utilize Juniper Mist Marvis and AI-driven analytics to identify and resolve network issues proactively.
Analyze Service Level Expectations (SLEs), client timelines, and network health metrics.
Develop operational documentation, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
Participate in on-call support and major incident response activities.
