Location: work from home in Columbus OH
This role is required to go onsite at least once per week
Travel Requirements: 10-30% travel required
Job Description
The Design Project Manager is responsible for managing the design process from campus planning and basis of design through issuance of construction drawings. This includes building matrixed design teams from internal stakeholders and external design services partners, facilitating the creation of a shared execution plan, and overseeing construction administration services provided by the external design team in support of construction activities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of building construction and/or design, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
Facilitate planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders
Facilitate design reviews with external partners
Facilitate large-scale workshops as required
Author scopes of work for contracts and obtain stakeholder buy-in
Issue and administer contracts
Define and track deliverables across multiple parties
Track cost, schedule, progress, and scope
Provide reporting on cost, schedule, scope, and progress
Build optimal design teams through internal collaboration and external partner engagement
Manage changes to project scope and design contracts
Facilitate technical decision-making aligned with project needs
Coordinate design activities with procurement and construction
Ensure clear, transparent communication across all stakeholders
Ensure issuance of engineering information to the correct party, at the correct time, and in the correct format
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
Professional licensure (PE, NCARB, RA) strongly preferred or 4+ years of relevant experience
Prior experience with data center design and/or construction preferred
4+ years of experience in design and/or construction project management
Strong understanding of construction principles and practices
Experience managing coordination between multiple teams
Experience preparing project plans, specifications, and scopes of work
Familiarity with applicable government regulations
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
