Title: Vice President of Senior Living

Senior Living/Senior Services

Status: Exempt

Reports to: Senior Vice President, Senior Services/Senior Living

Revision date: January 2024

Supervises: Executive Directors

PURPOSE

According to prescribed policies and procedures including all applicable state, federal and accreditation regulations and under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, Senior Services/Senior Living, assumes responsibilities for developing and directing operations for all healthcare business units/mission lines within Senior Living as assigned. The VP of SL is responsible for business development, all aspects of operations, quality control to include oversight of care and service delivery, budgetary functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the Senior Living departments including overall quality and clinical excellence, program development/occupancy, and financial performance.
  • Responsible for establishing standardized policies and procedures are implemented in full compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations and credentialing standards to meet all relevant Conditions of Participation and other regulatory standards for all business lines.
  • Works with leadership to develop strategies to ensure goals and objectives are met to grow and sustain the business models, including establishing core KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for business operations and assures KPI's are successfully achieved.
  • Responsible to establish and maintain high visibility and good working relationships with internal divisions within National Church Residences, as well as those key stakeholder relationships outside of the organization.
  • Implements and manages annual operating budgets, maintains budgeted occupancy, revenues, and operating expenses; participates in financial and operations meetings.
  • Maintains substantial compliance with COBRA/HIPAA. Maintains substantial compliance with any other applicable regulations, accreditation, licensure, or insurance requirements that facilities are bound to.
  • Responsible for and/or directs/oversees the hiring, training, developing, supervising, evaluating, and overall performance director & managerial level positions for Senior Living.
  • Provides qualitative and quantitative analysis to clinical business leaders to enhance their ability to staff, schedule, hire, and retain staff.
  • Coordinates, maintains and enforces standard operational policy developments process.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of healthcare operations in order to serve as a liaison between internal staff, clinical staff and/or by external providers.
  • In collaboration with finance, provides interpretation and analysis of financial reports to educate business and operational managers to identify cost trends and improvement opportunities, manage spending, and accurately forecast budgets and growth.
  • Working in collaboration with IT, ensures that the EMR, IT vision, strategy, and priorities are in accordance with operational goals, best practices, and services.
  • Reviews all facility/agency level contracts for consistency with organizational standards and recommends approval or modifications to the Senior Vice President.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead multiple small initiatives or a major project from inception through delivery.
  • Participates in meetings and committees as appropriate, develops materials/presentations and prepares summary reports for Senior Leadership as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must adhere to all policies, procedures, terms and conditions set forth in the National Church Residences' Employee Information Guide (EIG), the Code of Conduct, as well as any facility handbook, including but not limited to, corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state, local regulations and laws.
  • With respect to Resident Rights, ensures all care is provided with respect and dignity for the residents/clients, their families and the staff. Reports all complaints made by residents/clients and/or families to the appropriate supervisors, reports all allegations of abuse, misappropriation of funds/resident property and/or any other corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state and local regulations and laws.
  • Completes all annual education requirements timely, including but not limited to Compliance, Privacy, Security and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in the performance of their duties.
JOB SPECIFICATION SHEET- VP of Senior Living

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field required.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years' management experience in healthcare business operations required. Demonstrated, progressive leadership and management abilities required. Previous successful project management and/or system implementation experience required.

Mental: Must have excellent communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to speak, read, write and understand English, as well as the ability to make self-understood.

Skills: Must have good working computer skills with basic professional computer software (Microsoft Office suite, Windows, etc.) and the capacity for learning new software systems quickly. Must be self-directed with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks and assignments concurrently. Must be able to successfully lead others in an environment of complexity.

Must have strong motivational skills and a high emotional intelligence quotient (EQ).

Travel: Frequent travel required, up to 74%

Licensure: If licensed, must be in good standing in the state in which practicing

Working Conditions: Office based. Due to occasional work in field, exposure to some disagreeable conditions such as noise, odors, illness, infection and physical contact with disruptive residents.
