Step into Your New Role 

Kleinfelder is looking for a Pipeline Project Engineer to join our Columbus, OH office. The Pipeline Project Engineer develops and applies broad knowledge and skills in various natural gas workstreams, independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform pipeline projects. Projects range in size and complexity from small to large, including both distribution and transmission type projects. The Pipeline Project Engineer acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields and can function as a member or Lead of multidisciplinary teams. This is a hybrid work schedule!

Consideration for an Engineer position requires the following certifications or experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering 
  • 6-10 years relevant experience 
  • PE is Preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software  
  • Technical communication 
  • Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint 
  • Utility business understanding  
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations Title 42 Part 192 

As a Pipeline Project Engineer with Kleinfelder, you will be expected to: 

  • Prepare pipeline designs, including calculations, drawings, profiles, details, layouts, and studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, specifications, and instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures 
  • Prepare pipeline and facility designs, including thereview of designs and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and design criteria 
  • Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods 
  • Gas system network and hydraulic analysis 
  • Construction specification and bid package preparation 
  • Pipeline design and material selection 
  • Alternative/Feasibility studies 
  • Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges, and solutions 
  • Work closely with other workgroups at our clients' place of business and Kleinfelder offices 
  • Coordinate various inspection and testing methods, gather data, analyze, and report findings 
  • Coordinate and project management of internal resources and subcontractors 
  • Demonstrate sound engineering judgment 
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate with drafting and administrative staff 
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate work of Associate Engineers and technicians or administrative staff within team 
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and coaching to entry-level and other Engineers 
  • Assist in determining schedule & budget requirements 
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives
