Standard Work Schedule:


Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This position is part of our standard 50-hour workweek schedule. Additional overtime and occasional Saturdays may be required based on project needs, weather conditions, and customer schedules.

Candidates must be willing to be flexible as project demands and schedules may change.


Position Summary:

The Utility Foreman is responsible for leading field crews performing site development, earthwork, grading, and underground utility projects throughout Central Ohio.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise an underground utility crew installing storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, and related utility systems.
  • Plan daily crew activities, assign work, coordinate equipment and materials, and maintain production schedules.
  • Read and interpret civil plans, utility profiles, specifications, cut sheets, and construction drawings.
  • Establish, verify, and maintain proper line, grade, slope, elevations, and invert measurements throughout installation.
  • Direct the installation of pipe, manholes, catch basins, fire hydrants, valves, services, laterals, and related underground structures.
  • Coordinate trench excavation, bedding, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, dewatering, and restoration activities.
  • Ensure safe trenching practices, shoring, shielding, sloping, and other protective systems are used as required.
  • Inspect work for quality and verify installations meet project plans, specifications, and applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate testing, inspections, punch-list work, and corrections with project leadership and inspectors.
  • Conduct daily job briefings and reinforce Geotex safety expectations, OSHA requirements, and proper PPE use.
  • Track daily production, crew hours, materials, equipment needs, delays, and completed work.
  • Train, coach, and develop pipelayers, topmen, laborers, and operators while holding the crew accountable for safety, quality, and production.
  • Communicate jobsite conditions, conflicts, schedule impacts, and material needs to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Required:

Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience with demonstrated experience installing storm, sanitary, and waterline systems; previous experience leading or supervising a utility crew; ability to read plans, profiles, grades, benchmarks, elevations, slopes, and inverts; working knowledge of trench safety and underground utility construction practices; strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills; and a strong commitment to safety.

Preferred:

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, Excavation Competent Person training, confined-space training, experience using pipe lasers, levels, transit/GPS equipment, and experience operating heavy construction equipment.


Physical Demands:


  • Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Must be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment, excavation activities, and active construction sites.
