Purchasing SpecialistPosition Summary
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services to support manufacturing and construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, operations, production teams, suppliers, and vendors to ensure materials are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality requirements. The ideal candidate has experience managing procurement activities in fast-paced manufacturing and construction environments and understands the unique demands of both industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, components, tools, equipment, and construction-related supplies.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, and service agreements with suppliers.
- Create, maintain, and track purchase orders from initiation through delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements to prevent shortages.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, construction, and project management teams to support project schedules.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships while evaluating vendor performance.
- Resolve delivery issues, invoice discrepancies, and supplier quality concerns.
- Analyze material costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, budgets, and contractual requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and procurement documentation.
- Track market trends and supply chain risks that could impact project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
- Experience purchasing materials, equipment, and services for production operations and construction projects.
- Strong understanding of purchasing practices, inventory control, and supplier management.
- Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marysville, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
