Essential Job Responsibilities Safety
- Complete all required safety training, including general safety orientation, forklift operation (as applicable), ISO procedures, and any additional required training.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, injuries, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to the Production Lead or Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area using established housekeeping standards.
Production Operations
- Operate packaging equipment, production machinery, and other manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare workstations and production lines before the start of each shift to ensure materials, tools, and supplies are readily available.
- Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality and customer packaging specifications.
- Respond promptly to production interruptions, line stoppages, or equipment issues and assist with restoring normal operations.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of production materials and supplies, notifying the Production Lead of shortages before they impact production.
- Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and routine operational adjustments as needed.
- Support production schedules while minimizing downtime and waste.
Quality
- Perform visual inspections of materials and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Identify quality concerns and promptly report nonconforming products or process issues to the Production Lead.
- Follow documented work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with production team members, maintenance personnel, and leadership to achieve production objectives.
- Demonstrate flexibility by performing additional duties or assisting in other production areas as business needs require.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- One to two years of manufacturing or industrial production experience preferred (not required).
- Previous experience operating manufacturing equipment or forklifts is preferred (not required).
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic mathematical skills, including measuring, counting, and performing simple calculations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Dependable with good attendance and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand and walk for 8-12 hour shifts.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Occasionally lift materials weighing up to 100 pounds individually when necessary. Mechanical lifting devices, team lifting, or other engineering/administrative controls should be used whenever practical to reduce ergonomic risk.
- Frequently bend, squat, reach, twist, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to safely work around moving machinery, forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment.
Working Conditions
- Industrial steel processing and manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, vibration, dust, and moving mechanical equipment.
- Occasional exposure to oils, lubricants, coolants, cleaning agents, and other manufacturing chemicals while following required safety procedures.
- Required PPE may include:
- Steel-toe safety footwear
- Safety glasses with side shields
- Hearing protection
- Cut-resistant gloves and sleeves
- Long pants and other task-specific PPE as required by company policy or job assignment.
