What You'll Do

The Systems Programmer Analyst is a member of the Technical Support Team whose members, together, ensure the efficient and effective operation of all computer software in support of all other teams in the Information Systems Department. This position is responsible for developing, evaluating, and presenting alternative solutions to business system problems; creating and documenting plans for testing and implementing the selected solution. This role contributes to the team's mission primarily by installing and maintaining operating system software and software applications; providing technical, administrative, and programming support to all areas of the department; and guiding other members of the Technical Support team. 


Specific Responsibilities

1. Implements new systems software and modifications in an optimal manner without adverse effects on current production and testing and with minimal impact on development activities.

2. Performs work assignments consistent with the established policies, standards, and practices of the department.

3. Maintains and improves skills relative to this area of responsibility. 

4. Assists all fellow associates with software problem identification and correction.

5. Assists and trains of fellow associates in the department in the technique required to perform their work effectively using the software problem identification and correction and other software tools of the department.

6. Assists supervisory and management associates in the drafting of standards, conventions and practices relating to the use of the software tools of the department.

7. Implements new systems software and modifications in an optimal manner without adverse effects on current production and testing and with minimal impact on development activities.

8. Monitors performance, ensuring integrity and security of all vendor software at all R. G. Barry facilities.

9. Serves as a source of knowledge to be used by the operations section in problem determination and resolutions. 

10. Performs all work assignments in a competent and professional manner. 

11. Prepares project plans and progress reports for management. 

12. Remains ‘On call’ during off duty hours to assist and/or correct software failures.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $86,000-$115,000. This range is posted in good faith as an expected base amount the job will pay, and it may vary based on experience and location. Additionally, there is an opportunity for an annual bonus and merit increase based on performance.

Requirements:
  •  Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires knowledge of current, "State-of-the-art", hardware and software capabilities and techniques.
  • Needs to have a high degree of initiative, adaptability, and creativity.
  • Requires the ability to effectively provide guidance to others.
  • Maintains relationships with system software and hardware vendors to ensure proper levels of service, as well as establishes relationships with other software professionals in the community.
  • Requires knowledge of project management theories, concepts, and methods.
  • Must have leadership, delegation, and monitoring abilities.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving work environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite and Artificial Intelligence Tools.
  • Must be proficient in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with Exenta ERP, Netsuite Financials, Snowflake, Make.com, and EDI knowledge is a plus.
