Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse - Travel Assignment in Columbus, Ohio

This PCU RN job offers the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients in a surgical step-down setting while supporting quality outcomes in a respected Midwest healthcare community.

  • Setting: Progressive Care / Surgical Step-Down Unit
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio (ZIP 43210)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Weekly Hours: 36
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,940 - $2,040
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Unit Focus: Post-surgical overflow, general medicine, bariatric surgery, and colorectal surgery
  • Float: May float to other areas if not needed on the home unit
Job Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of submission
  • At least 1 year of recent nursing experience required
  • Must be able to pass a telemetry test
  • Telemetry patient monitoring experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Epic experience required
  • Strong skills in IV starts, monitoring, lab review, medication administration, and patient education
  • Experience in PCU, step-down, or telemetry nursing strongly preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program
  • Two professional references required, including one from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care to progressive care patients with complex medical and surgical needs
  • Monitor telemetry patients and respond appropriately to changes in rhythm or condition
  • Administer medications, manage IVs, and support ongoing patient assessments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, efficient care
  • Support recovery for patients admitted with post-surgical and medical overflow needs
  • Educate patients and families while promoting comfort, safety, and positive outcomes
  • Use strong clinical judgment to prioritize care in a fast-moving step-down environment
