Hiring: IT Consultant – Project Governance & Portfolio Management

Location: Columbus, OH - 100% Onsite

Job Type: Long-term Contract

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Consultant to support enterprise project governance, project portfolio management, and strategic IT initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned project management professional with strong leadership, stakeholder management, and governance experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain IT project governance policies and best practices.
  • Manage and administer the agency''s IT project portfolio to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead requirements gathering and business analysis by working closely with business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to agency project managers.
  • Monitor project and portfolio performance, identify risks, and provide regular status updates to the CIO and executive leadership.
  • Independently manage multiple IT projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion.
  • Foster strong business relationships and ensure effective communication across technical and business teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies, principles, and best practices.
  • Proven experience managing multiple IT projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing project governance frameworks and administering project portfolios.
  • Strong experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements for complex IT projects.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working within a government or public-sector environment.
  • Familiarity with PMO processes, portfolio management, and executive reporting.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
