Job description

As an Instructor Assistant at West Central School, you will support instructors in supervising and instructing students with developmental disabilities. Your role involves aiding in skill development across life, leisure, community, and transitional areas, assisting with extracurricular activities, and helping maintain a safe and productive learning environment. You will also provide support in community-based training, manage behavioral and progress data, and collaborate with staff to enhance student outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students with developmental disabilities during various activities
  • Support skill development in life, leisure, community, and transitional areas
  • Assist with implementing instructor-created daily lesson plans
  • Provide training in community-based settings, including use of public transportation
  • Maintain a safe, health-compliant, and conducive classroom environment
  • Prepare and maintain records on attendance, behavioral data, and student progress
  • Assist students boarding and exiting transportation vehicles
  • Participate in staff training programs and professional development activities
  • Support nursing tasks and collaborate with classroom teams as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • High School Diploma or GED
