We’re looking for a dependable Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and specialized equipment that support Porta Kleen and PKX operations. This role works on vacuum trucks, hydro excavation units, septic service trucks, roll-off trucks, portable restroom service vehicles, and related support equipment to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and performance while supporting shop efficiency and mentoring junior technicians.

What You’ll Bring

  • Mechanical expertise – Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, driveline systems, and fleet equipment.
  • Problem-solving mindset – Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine effective repair solutions.
  • Accountability and independence – Comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards for safety and workmanship.
  • Team-oriented leadership – Willingness to support shop operations by mentoring junior technicians and sharing technical knowledge.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance and post-trip inspections on Porta Kleen and PKX fleet vehicles to identify service needs before failures occur.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vacuum trucks, hydro excavation units, septic service trucks, roll-off trucks, portable restroom service vehicles, and related support equipment to maximize fleet uptime and reliability.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and driveline issues using testing tools and repair procedures to restore equipment to safe operation.
  • Repair and replace major components including tires, brakes, clutches, pumps, and related systems that affect vehicle performance and reliability.
  • Complete engine overhauls and major driveline repairs while following manufacturer and shop repair standards.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate equipment status and repair needs with supervisors.
  • Mentor junior mechanics by sharing best practices, assisting with repairs, and supporting overall shop productivity.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school training in diesel technology or mechanical repair preferred.
  • 4–5 years of diesel mechanic or fleet maintenance experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required with the ability to drive company vehicles, respond to service calls, and travel between service locations as needed.
  • Experience working on diesel-powered trucks, vacuum systems, hydraulic equipment, commercial vehicles, or similar fleet equipment preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50–75 lbs, perform bending, kneeling, and reaching, and work on equipment at ground level or elevated positions. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during 8–10 hour shifts and work in shop environments with noise, grease, vibration, and occasional outdoor weather exposure.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive pay based on experience and certifications
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Time off and floating holidays
  • Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to support causes in your community
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Wellness benefits that support your physical and mental well-being
  • Company-provided uniforms and safety gear
  • Clean, organized shop environment
  • Modern diagnostic tools and well-maintained equipment
  • Opportunities for training, certifications, and skill development
  • Stable, year-round work with a supportive team

Who Thrives Here

You take pride in your work and believe the job should be done right the first time, looking beyond quick fixes to understand root causes and ensure equipment leaves the shop better than it arrived, while appreciating a clean workspace, reliable tools, and the satisfaction of solving tough problems.

You’ll fit right in if you are:

  • Motivated by doing quality work
  • Safety-focused and detail-oriented
  • Someone who takes ownership of their repairs
  • Reliable and accountable
  • A team player who supports coworkers when needed
  • Always looking to improve your skills and knowledge
