Job description

Job Description:
Mars Petcare- Cannery Filler/Seamer Operator (3rd Shift)- Columbus, OH (KKC)
  • Pay: $30.33/hour and $1.50 shift premium
  • This site manufactures petfood

Shift Schedule: 3rd shift; Monday- Friday; 11pm-730am
Description of Role:
Fills and seals mixed product in the proper size cans for processing to ensure the quality of the product and the can meet corporate and FDA standards.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient using computers including MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical degree or certificate
  • Able to operate a forklift
  • Able to write work orders
  • Understands Recipe database, Microsoft Office, Weever and POKA

Physical Requirements:
  • Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Perform start up procedures, assemble, operate and adjust the filler and seamer associated equipment and maintain a continuous supply of good quality filled and sealed cans
  • Troubleshoot the equipment and write a work order
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor maintenance including changing filler valves, bumpers, rollers, and greasing various parts.
  • Clear filler/seamer jams and empty can jams using the proper lock out/ tag out procedures.
  • Perform product change over duties.
  • Clean the system if necessary and record and document the information on the completion of the run. Find the new product in Recipe database. Perform visual can inspections and identify possible seam defects or irregularities.
  • Perform and monitor start up, changeover and shut down of the ink printers, fluid levels and the printed code is legible.
