Job description

Job Description: Sewing Technicians work within our Sample Room at the A&F Global Home Office. They are responsible for sewing various apparel products and altering apparel samples for company purposes. They work closely with Technical and Apparel Designers for sample making and edits. This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio. What will you be doing?
  • Ability to sew various apparel products starting from paper patterns to completed garment.
  • Ability to create or alter apparel samples by hand and using industrial sewing machinery, project dependent
  • Collaborate directly with the Technical Design & Apparel Design teams for sample making and edits
  • Complete all projects on time while maintaining garment requirements.
  • Ability to identify potential problems that may affect prototyping or production difficulties, including material challenges, pattern issues, stitching difficulties & any construction problems found during the creating of the sample.
  • Report machine malfunctions immediately to Sample Room Technician.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shared workspace
What will you need to bring?
  • 3+ years' experience with a strong level of expertise in garment stitching & high quality construction.
  • Ability to operate industrial sewing machines: coverstitch, lockstitch, etc.
  • Experience sewing multiple types of fabric and multiple product categories
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Learn how to follow English written tech sketches to create the garment prototype.
  • Ability to sit for periods of time with continuous movements of hands, arms & fingers while sewing
  • A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional partners to achieve the vision of the brand
  • A strong desire for adventure & curiosity
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced, structured environment
