Field Safety Manager

Position Summary: The Field Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and initiatives at field job sites, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and reducing risks to personnel and property. This role is vital in maintaining a culture of safety across the organization and ensuring the well-being of employees in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in field safety or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in construction or industrial settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility: Ability to travel regularly to field sites (80-90%), often in remote or construction environments. Ability to walk long distances across uneven terrain, climb ladders, and navigate through construction zones or industrial sites. Ability to bend, kneel, and squat to inspect equipment, safety setups, and identify hazards at ground level.
  • Endurance: Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, or rain. Physical stamina to stay active for extended periods, particularly during site inspections, audits, and safety training sessions.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry safety equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds (depending on the job site). Must be able to move and position personal protective equipment (PPE), safety barriers, or safety signs as required.
  • Vision and Hearing: Good vision to inspect job sites for potential hazards, read safety signs and labels, and spot unsafe conditions. Clear hearing to detect hazards in noisy environments (e.g., machinery, heavy equipment) and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Stamina and Agility: Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or accidents on-site. Flexibility and agility to maneuver around potential hazards in the field.

Mental Requirements:

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to assess potential safety hazards, identify risks, and follow through with corrective actions without overlooking details. Ability to evaluate complex situations and develop safety solutions on the spot.
  • Decision-Making Skills: Ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations to mitigate risks and prevent accidents. Confidence in making safety-related decisions that prioritize the well-being of employees and compliance with regulations.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to identify safety challenges, think critically to find solutions, and implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents. Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and develop corrective actions after accidents or near-misses.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with field personnel, management, and regulatory authorities. Ability to deliver clear and concise safety training, reports, and instructions, ensuring everyone on-site understands potential risks and safety measures.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise field teams, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and best practices. Ability to remain calm and composed while leading a team during emergency situations, providing clear instructions and guidance.
  • Mental Resilience: Ability to handle stress, especially in situations involving accidents, safety breaches, or emergency responses. Emotional resilience to deal with the aftermath of safety incidents and injuries, while continuing to promote a culture of safety.
  • Multi-tasking and Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, such as conducting safety audits, attending meetings, and providing on-site supervision. Strong organizational skills to track safety training records, incident reports, compliance documentation, and inspection schedules.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with the latest safety regulations, best practices, and emerging risks. Ability to absorb and apply new information, especially during training or changes in safety standards.

FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Range: $85-110,000 Annually Reports To: Vice President, Safety & Risk Management
