SUMMARY

The Respite Provider delivers community-based behavioral health respite services to children, adolescents, and families. This role provides direct support to youth with behavioral and mental health needs by creating positive, structured experiences that promote social skills, independence, emotional regulation, and healthy peer interactions.

Respite Providers serve as positive role models while providing families with temporary relief from caregiving responsibilities. Services are delivered in community settings and are guided by each youth's individualized care plan.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with youth and families.
  • Provide direct supervision and support during community-based activities.
  • Assist youth in developing social, communication, coping, and independent living skills.
  • Implement individualized goals identified in the youth's care or service plan.
  • Encourage positive behaviors through coaching, modeling, and reinforcement.
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and community activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with caregivers and members of the treatment team regarding client progress and concerns.
  • Identify community resources and opportunities that support youth development and goal achievement.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation, including service notes and billing documentation, in accordance with agency and payer requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Transport youth safely to approved community activities as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with behavioral health needs preferred.
  • Ability to establish rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Availability to work after-school hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area daily.
Driving Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable personal vehicle available for daily travel.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum automobile liability insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000.
  • Ability to safely transport clients in accordance with agency policies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience providing respite, behavioral health, case management, mentoring, or youth development services.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, or crisis prevention techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently walk, stand, bend, and actively participate in community activities.
  • Ability to safely assist youth during recreational activities when necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle throughout the workday.
