Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The BuyOut Purchasing Manager is responsible for both executing buyout purchases and directly managing a team of buyers. This role manages complex and highvalue buyouts while ensuring consistent execution, supplier performance, and adherence to purchasing standards across the team.

The position works closely with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Finance to ensure buyout purchases meet cost, quality, delivery, and working capital expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Leadership & Daily Direction
    • Lead and coordinate daytoday activities of the buyout purchasing team, ensuring priorities are aligned with customer project timelines and business needs.
    • Set clear expectations for execution quality, responsiveness, and accountability.
    • Balance workload across the team, reallocating resources as projects demand or risk changes.
    • Serve as the first escalation point for execution, supplier, or projectrelated issues.
  • Cross-Functional Execution
    • Work closely with Engineering to clarify requirements and manage changes.
    • Coordinate with Operations and Planning to align buyouts with schedules.
    • Maintain close alignment with customer project requirements, timelines, and milestones, ensuring buyout purchasing activities support project delivery commitments.
    • Partner with Finance to support cost tracking and spend control.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, or related field.
  • 1-3+ years of experience of direct people leadership experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Proven ability to manage purchasing across multiple locations or a large-scale operation
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Ability to work within a matrix management environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively, with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Highly organized and process oriented
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in complex, multi-site manufacturing or global supply chains
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification 
  • CPSM, SPSM, CIPS, CPP, and other relevant certifications

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Up to 10%
