Lead Data Engineer – Downtown Columbus, Ohio

As a Lead Data Engineer at OPERS, you will play a pivotal role designing and building pathways to transport raw data to the data warehouse. You will also be instrumental in cleaning, structuring, and optimizing that data for more efficient access and analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, leveraging your technical expertise and analytical skills to solve complex business problems. What you’ll bring: 

  • The ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with all levels of the organization 
  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills with a sense of self-direction and ability to support the data needs of multiple initiatives and use cases at the same time 
  • A bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 6 years of experience a hands-on engineering role 
    • A total of 10 years of direct and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree 
  • Have experience planning, leading and managing initiatives 
  • Have experience with MS SQL Business Intelligence platforms such as SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSRS 
  • Have a proficiency in integrating and pulling data via API’s 
  • Previous experience with ETL and scheduling tools 
  • A proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, etc. 
  • At least 2 years previous supervisory experience 
  • Must be willing and able to abide by the OPERS Personal Trading Policy
