Job Title: Packaging Engineer – LiquidsJob Description

The Packaging Engineer – Liquids supports packaging components and systems within a liquids manufacturing environment. This role focuses on packaging design, materials, specifications, and lifecycle support, with a strong emphasis on change management, optimization, and meticulous documentation. You collaborate closely with vendors, production, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure that all packaging components meet quality, regulatory, and operational requirements in a regulated, GMP setting.

Responsibilities
  • Support packaging components used in liquids manufacturing, ensuring they meet quality and operational standards.
  • Develop a strong understanding of how packaging components interface with manufacturing equipment and production lines.
  • Evaluate how packaging is designed, molded, manufactured, and assembled to ensure suitability for liquid products.
  • Own and maintain detailed packaging specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assigned products and components.
  • Manage packaging documentation with strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
  • Support packaging lifecycle activities, including implementation of changes, continuous improvement, and optimization of packaging components and materials.
  • Work closely with vendors to improve packaging components, materials, and designs, maintaining effective vendor relationships.
  • Source and evaluate packaging samples from the production line to verify performance, fit, and function.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, including manufacturing, production, and engineering, as well as external suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure all packaging changes are fully documented, reviewed, and approved according to established change control and GMP processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and equipment maintenance teams to support equipment installation, setup, and compatibility with packaging components.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to packaging lines, manufacturing processes, and documentation management in a GMP environment.
Essential Skills
  • Background or experience in packaging engineering or packaging science, specifically supporting packaging in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of packaging components, materials, and manufacturing processes, particularly for liquid products.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining packaging specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent documentation management skills, including creating, updating, and controlling technical documents in a regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of packaging design, specification control, and change management.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing engineering and production teams to understand equipment interfaces and packaging line requirements.
  • Comfort and effectiveness in working with vendors, including communication, sample evaluation, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience working within Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, packaging lines, and equipment maintenance considerations as they relate to packaging components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Level 2 Packaging Engineer experience is preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetics is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with packaging components used specifically in liquid products.
  • Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with equipment installation and packaging line support in a manufacturing setting.
  • Exposure to production environments where documentation management and GMP compliance are critical.
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement and optimization initiatives related to packaging materials and processes.
Work Environment

This role operates in a GMP-compliant, clean, state-of-the-art facility that includes a mix of office space, laboratories, and manufacturing areas dedicated to liquids production. You work closely with production lines, packaging equipment, and technical teams in an environment that emphasizes quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The position offers flexibility around working hours, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week and core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Start and end times are flexible as long as you are present during core hours. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $40.87/hr.
