Location: Columbus, OH
Contract: 3 months+
Position Description:
Mainframe COBOL Batch and COBOL CICS development to convert batch and real-time interfaces to a new third party processor. Development will be done within the context of a Shared Services Mainframe Development Model, with the development of mainframe-based components as part of an Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture.
The primary focus of this position will be the design and development of 1) the building of replacement batch processes for feeding data onto, and extracting data from a Customer Information System, 2) conversion of customer profile account level data on a DB2 Customer Information System, and 3) the building and refinement of CICS Online modules which are invoked from Online Channels and will access and return data from DB2 Relational Databases.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Work directly with Business Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and other technical resources on multiple concurrent tasks.
Design, test, debug, document, and implement program code.
Consult with users to design, modify, and explain program changes or to provide technical support.
Adhere to structured development lifecycle methodology
Work with Business Systems Analysts to translate requirements to technical design
Create technical design documentation
Present designs in design review sessions
Present code in code review sessions
Conduct structured unit and integration testing
Provide defect analysis and resolution support for system and user acceptance testing
Provide support for system implementations.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in COBOL embedded SQL / DB2 package and plan binding
Knowledge of application use of MQ Series
Previous experience with Changeman
Knowledge of XML encoding based interfaces
Knowledge of Mainview a plus
Knowledge of APPTune a plus
Knowledge of DataStage a plus
Excellent communications skills required; both written and oral: ability to articulate complex technical solutions to both the user and technical communities.
