Job description

Want to learn and have fun in a high-end sports environment? The Columbus Crew is looking for a
motivated candidate with a strong work ethic and attention to detail, to join the staff as an Assistant
Groundskeeper. Based at the Ohio Health Performance Center, this role will assist in maintaining the 3.5
natural grass and 3 synthetic fields on property as well as assist at Scotts Miracle-Gro Field as needed.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


• Assist in grounds operations at Ohio Health Performance Center, Historic Crew Stadium, and Scotts Miracle-Gro Field
• Assist in day-to-day operations for first team, Crew 2, and academy trainings
• Assist in hosting matches and events at Historic Crew Stadium and Lower.com Field
• Assist in training part-time staff in maintenance practices and equipment use


Desired Experience


• Degree in Turf related field or comparable experience preferred
• Previous experience or working knowledge of professional sports turf standards
• Previous use of turf maintenance equipment/machinery
• Ride-on sprayer usage


Preferred Knowledge or Willingness to Learn


• In-ground irrigation
• Turf stress and disease Identification
• General knowledge of fertilizers
• Basic equipment maintenance


This position will have the opportunity:


• To learn turf growing techniques in unique environments
• To learn and use inground field heating, Subair, and grow lighting
• For overtime
• For membership, registration, and attendance at local and national turf conferences
• To obtain Ohio Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator license
• To pursue other desired career development of interest
