KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare and cook foods according to standardized recipes
  • Use standard and/or commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., steam kettles, grill, oven, broiler, meat slicer, steamers, fryers, range top, food processing equipment, thermometer, industrial mixer, chill blaster)
  • Use a thermometer to monitor and record food temperatures as instructed.
  • Assist other cooks, and food service workers in unloading pallets of food provisions and transferring to ingredient/storeroom, coolers and daily meal ingredient carts.
  • Receive stock deliveries and properly secures all frozen, refrigerated & dry goods.
  • Retrieve stock items from storage, dates and rotates all refrigerated stock, and utilizes first in/first out stock rotation/usage method.
  • Set up service areas, trays & carts, and portions food in service areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation at all times in kitchen, ingredient/storeroom as well as during preparation of meals.

Qualifications
Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in food preparation, sanitation & storage & use of food service equipment in institutional, school or restaurant setting.
-Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
