Job description

Primary Responsibilities

Complete assigned designs and drawings per project specifications. Maintaintraining and certification needs. Provide sales support for technical issues onproposals and projects and review proposals for accurate scope, technicalsolution(s), equipment, and labor. Maintain knowledge in current, new, andupcoming technology, equipment, products, and solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Perform engineering/design work on projects as workflow andnecessity dictates
  • Use AutoCAD and/or REVIT to produce completed drawings.
  • Keep project delivery dates current with chief engineer.
  • Keep current with existing and new products to assure properdesign and design implementation with best-suited products.
  • Assure IPS quality and standardization is applied toengineering/design work as it is produced.
  • Provide sales & technicians support as needed.
  • Review projects that fall into IPS review criteria (by marginpercentage, dollar limit, or as requested by peer review.)
  • Maintain certifications and training needs.
  • Accept and resolve calls from customers or IPS field technicianswith installation or technical questions.
  • Accept and help to resolve calls from AHJs regarding permitapplication questions.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have minimum associate's degree in engineering or related field
  • Must be NICET III or higher certified
  • Must have high knowledge using AutoCAD
  • Must have high knowledge of physical security systems and access control systems
  • Must have high knowledge of IP networks, functionality, and implementation
  • High knowledge in commercial, industrial, and institutional fire alarm, special hazards suppression, intrusion, access control, and closed-circuit television systems, equipment and applications
  • High Knowledge in state and local building codes
  • Possess excellent math, language, and reading skills. Must fluently speak, read, and legibly write in English. Must have aptitude to pick up technical information.
  • Must be self-motivated; able to perform with little supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills-must be able to navigate company software and third-party inspection software, enter data and send communication. Requires excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional approach.

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, occasional travel to jobsites to assist with walk thrus will be required
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • All employees of IPS are subject to random drug testing per our Drug Free Safety Policy
  • Background check required. Must have and maintain a clean driving record (no DUIs or other serious violations within the past three years).
