POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an HVAC Project Sales Representative to drive the growth and profitability of our Commercial and Industrial HVAC business. This role is responsible for identifying new construction project opportunities, developing relationships with key industry partners, and securing profitable HVAC projects that support the continued growth of FirstCall Mechanical. The ideal candidate is a proactive, goal-oriented sales professional who excels at creating opportunities, building relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, engineers, and other key decision-makers while expanding our presence within the commercial HVAC construction market.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively identifies, targets, and develops new commercial and industrial HVAC project opportunities through market research, networking, industry relationships, referrals, and outreach efforts.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with general contractors, construction managers, building owners, developers, engineers, and other key project stakeholders to identify upcoming opportunities.
  • Creates and manages a strong sales pipeline by consistently pursuing new construction projects and advancing opportunities through the sales process.
  • Reviews project plans, specifications, bid documents, and customer requirements to identify opportunities and develop competitive HVAC solutions.
  • Collaborates with estimating, engineering, and operations teams to develop accurate proposals, project strategies, and solutions that align with customer expectations and company goals.
  • Conducts sales presentations and project discussions to communicate the value of FirstCall Mechanical’s capabilities, technical expertise, and ability to successfully deliver complex HVAC projects.
  • Prepares, presents, negotiates, and closes project proposals while effectively managing customer expectations throughout the sales process.
  • Develops a strong understanding of customer needs, project timelines, budgets, and operational goals to position FirstCall Mechanical as a trusted HVAC partner.
  • Maintains ownership of opportunities from initial identification through contract award while ensuring successful transition to the project management and operations teams.
  • Maintains accurate sales activity, project pipeline updates, customer information, and opportunity tracking within BuildOps and other company systems while developing territory growth strategies aligned with FirstCall Mechanical’s goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Consistently achieves sales goals by generating new commercial and industrial HVAC project opportunities and securing profitable contracts.
  • Continually develops technical HVAC knowledge, construction industry knowledge, and sales skills through FirstCall Academy and ongoing industry learning.
  • Delivers an exceptional customer experience to ensure FirstCall Mechanical remains a trusted partner for commercial HVAC construction projects.
  • Represents FirstCall Mechanical with professionalism, urgency, and a commitment to delivering value for customers and project partners.

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local Branch Leader and works closely with Estimating, Project Management, Operations Teams, and customers to drive commercial and industrial HVAC project growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3+ years of progressive sales experience, preferably in commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, construction services, or a related industry.
  • Proven ability to develop new business, generate project opportunities, and successfully close sales.
  • Experience selling commercial HVAC projects, mechanical systems, construction services, or related solutions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, construction processes, and project delivery preferred.
  • Ability to review project documents, understand customer requirements, and communicate technical solutions effectively.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage a territory, prioritize opportunities, and drive results independently.
  • Experience utilizing CRM, estimating, or sales management tools preferred.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, correspondence, and business documents. Ability to effectively communicate professionally through written and verbal communication. Ability to present information clearly and confidently in individual and group settings with customers, clients, contractors, and internal teams.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, margins, project costs, and sales projections. Ability to interpret basic reports, estimates, and project-related information.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to identify project opportunities, evaluate customer needs, recommend solutions, and make sound business decisions. Ability to manage multiple opportunities, prioritize activities, and adapt to changing project requirements and market conditions.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires regular travel to customer locations, job sites, project meetings, and business development activities. The employee will work in a field environment and interact with customers, contractors, and project partners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, and sits. The employee may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl while visiting job sites and customer locations. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
