QA/QC Engineer Data Center Construction - Columbus OH
This opportunity is with a leading EPC Company of data center design / build / commissioning solutions. This company provides a complete life cycle of solutions that are custom-fit to the requirements of their client's mission-critical facilities. We are looking for an experienced Data Center QA/QC Engineer to support critical facility data center construction projects. The QA/QC Engineer focus will be on coordination between Engineering and Construction Teams to drive the Cx process, be responsible for the overall quality of data center construction projects, with a focus on installation, commissioning, and service of operations of key infrastructure systems in accordance with company's policies and procedures. The successful candidate have knowledge of multi-facility, standards based Operations & Maintenance programs and have basic knowledge of the Commissioning and Construction processes creating process documentation, developing operational procedures, experience with Levels 1-3 commissioning and communicating effectively with both business and operations managers. You will support the development and implementation of Mission Critical O&M initiatives, based on company's best practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver quality and consistent services and support as established by the Company while satisfying unique site requirements and ensuring proper performance reporting of key metrics for the site
  • Ability to communicate with contractors and vendors to obtain documentation, prep / run commissioning meetings, schedule techs, and coordinate startup and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment in a datacenter environment
  • Performing periodic site walk-throughs in order to ensure Company's procedures (SOPS and MOPS) and standards are followed. This includes assisting the Facilities Manager, Technicians and any other contracted vendors
  • Site acceptance, commissioning, and validation of the facility's systems to ensure the site meets Industry Standards and to verify the integrity and performance of their customer's mission critical support infrastructure
  • Perform L1, L2 and L3 QA inspections on all equipment
  • Develop and Review standard operating procedures (SOP's) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for all work on critical data center facility equipment
  • Oversight, Verification and Auditing of Scripts
  • Create from scratch, follow templates, etc to complete L1 / L2 / L3 QA checklists (with SW such as CxAlloy) to confirm the completion of all subcontractor and GC inspections
  • Maintain / manage QA issues log
  • Conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance
  • Have experience with both routine and emergency service on a variety of state of the art critical systems and expertise with chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection / suppression; building monitoring systems; etc. Also be familiar with electrical equipment: medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment
  • Work with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency
  • Ensure that a constant state of readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime
  • Design Critical Environment Programs for both internal and external clients
  • Coordinate with Design / Construction Team to provide a more focused approach to the Cx Process
  • Assess, recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs
  • Develop process documentation and training materials

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience including Military a huge plus
  • NETA certification a plus
  • Journeyman License a plus
  • L1, L2, L3 Cx testing experience in a Data Center Environment a huge plus
  • 2-5 years of experience in data center facility operations, commissioning, or military
  • 2-5 years of Quality Assurance / Quality Controls, Commissioning, MEP Coordination, or other relevant experience
  • Previous experience working with a GC or 3rd Party CxA Company a huge plus
  • Solid Understanding of either Critical Power Systems / Electrical Power Equipment or Mechanical Systems / HVAC equipment in a data center environment
  • Must have experience analyzing processes, creating process documentation, developing operational procedures and communicating effectively with both business and operations managers
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams etc.)
  • Experience with BIM 360 / ACC, CxAlloy, end user ACMS as necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; Good presentation skills
  • Superior analytical, planning and problem resolution skills
  • Highly organized with proved project management abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Self-motivated, and able to work with a team in a high-paced/high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Open to travel M-F / home on weekends / limited travel if located near a project
