Job description

Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift, 3x12.0 hours per week.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
  • Explain treatment purposes and procedures to patients, providing necessary education upon discharge.
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments and operate various invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment.
  • Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation effectively.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various techniques.
  • Conduct monitoring procedures such as oximetry and capnography.
  • Review patients' chest x-rays for further evaluation when needed.
  • Assist in procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
  • Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians regarding therapy efficiency and patient care.
  • Ensure proper charging and documentation of respiratory therapy services.

Candidates must possess the appropriate licensure and certifications relevant to the role of Respiratory Therapist, as well as experience in respiratory care practices.
