Job description

Overview

Mercy Health in Springfield, OH is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to join our cardiothoracic surgery service line at Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio.

Position Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care and counsel patients alongside and under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Follow up with patients after surgery in the office, serving as a key link between patient and office.
  • Perform physical assessments and complete histories on patients.
  • Round on patients admitted to the hospital; review care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians.
  • Assist in the operating room. Vein harvest experience required.
  • Complete discharge summaries.
  • Order medications, treatments, labs, etc. as described and permitted under the Ohio State Medical Board supervision agreement and the Mercy Health Springfield credentialing boards.
  • Be available for call about patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule, including holiday responsibilities.
  • Other duties as determined by the supervising physician(s).
Education and Skills Required
  1. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
  2. Current licensure with the state of Ohio as a physician assistant.
  3. Good verbal and written communication skills.
