General Manager -Ohio Region Squad Leader

The Penn Group July 27, 2026 3 min read

Locations: On Site Columbus, Ohio

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Executive to own and grow The Penn Group’s Ohio region. As the squad leader, you will be directly responsible for market leadership with full accountability for revenue, margin, and market share, as well as the performance of the install team that delivers the work. The Squad Leader is the face of The Penn Group in Ohio: developing client relationships, building the pipeline, leading the crew, and ensuring every project reflects the quality standard our clients expect. Ohio is our founding market, with an established client base, an experienced install team, and strong regional brand recognition. The ideal candidate has carried a revenue number, has led field crews, and is equally comfortable in a boardroom, on a job site, and in a set of construction documents. This role reports directly to the CEO and requires regular travel throughout the territory including: Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own full accountability for the Ohio market’s revenue, gross margin, and growth targets.
  • Build and manage the territory pipeline from first conversation through signed contract.
  • Lead pricing and proposal strategy on regional opportunities, protecting margin while remaining competitive.
  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts supported by verifiable pipeline.
  • Grow market share across core verticals including houses of worship, education, corporate, government, and sports and entertainment.
  • Develop referral relationships with architects, general contractors, builders, and design consultants.
  • Represent The Penn Group at regional trade shows, association events, and industry organizations.
  • Lead the Ohio install team, including installers, technicians, programmers, and project coordinators.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop team members as the market grows.
  • Set and enforce standards for workmanship, safety, and documentation on every project.
  • Own project outcomes end to end, including scope, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with system engineering and design staff to ensure proposals reflect scope and feasibility.
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships after installation to drive service, support, and repeat business.
  • Maintain organized records of sales activity, pipeline status, and client communications.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience in commercial AV or AVL integration, including at least 5 years in a leadership, market ownership, or P&L accountable role.
  • Demonstrated track record of carrying and achieving a revenue target.
  • Working technical fluency across audio, video, and lighting systems, with the ability to evaluate whether a proposed design is sound.
  • Experience leading field crews and managing multiple concurrent installation projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and communicate credibly with architects, general contractors, and consultants.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ohio’s commercial construction and integration market.
  • Proficiency with CRM and project management tools such as HubSpot, Microsoft 365, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and executive-level presentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the territory.
  • CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I certification is a plus.
  • Established relationships with Ohio-area architects, builders, or vertical decision makers are a plus.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary with performance incentive tied to market revenue and margin.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
  • Paid certification and continuing education, including manufacturer and industry training.
  • Standard expected benefits.
  • A collaborative team environment with innovative projects and diverse clients.
  • This role does not offer relocation assistance.
