Job description

What You'll Do: The Office of Management Information Systems (OMIS) administers the computer-based management systems across the ODH enterprise. The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and for the development and implementation of strategies that support the current and future technology needs of the agency. We are seeking a Software Development Specialist 3 to develop software applications and perform analysis and design. The primary technology for this position is Salesforce.
This position will:
  • Identify interdependencies between systems and data
  • Collaborate with OMIS staff on system design reviews
  • Perform code reviews and ensure agency application development standards are met
  • Work with assigned OMIS staff to identify and document system software requirements
  • Define problems and develop potential solutions
  • Perform post production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, enhancements and the need to perform research to aid in troubleshooting software production errors
  • Assist in review and evaluation of software development tools and methodologies (e.g., write & remediate)
  • Coordinate execution of unit and system test scripts, debugging efforts and defect tracking, support of user acceptance testing, and software implementation and deployment tasks
  • Assist OMIS team with development of Salesforce application-related training materials and software user guides, program and/or application source code documentation (e.g., uses cases, in-line code comments), departmental standards, appropriate standards and criteria for acceptable programming, documentation and review of application development lifecycle activities

Qualifications
60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Note: The official position description on file with the designated agency is to reflect the required, primary technology directly relating to the duties of the position. Only those applicants possessing the experience in the required, primary technology listed in the position description & job posting are to be considered for any vacancies posted. The job posting must list the required technology commensurate with the position in question.

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Experience in the design, configuration and coding in Salesforce applications
  • Experience with Apex code development
  • Experience with SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language) and SOSL (Salesforce Object Search Language)
  • Experience with Lightning Web Components (LWC)
  • Experience as a lead worker or project lead
  • Experience working with customers to identify, interpret, design and analyze specific needs/requirements for application development
