The Ion Exchange Resins business within Water Solutions is seeking a Process R&D Senior Scientist to join our team at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware.

In this role, you will develop and scale innovative process solutions that enable new product introductions while improving the efficiency, sustainability, and economics of existing manufacturing processes. As an active laboratory scientist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams of researchers, engineers, and manufacturing professionals to solve complex technical challenges and translate scientific discoveries into commercial impact.

We are seeking highly motivated recent Ph.D. graduates, or candidates within three months of completing a doctoral degree, who are eager to apply their technical expertise to real-world challenges. Training in DuPont's core technologies, including ion exchange resins, will be provided.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Develop, synthesize, and functionalize polymer materials to enable new product and process innovations.
  • Apply ion exchange resin technology to solve processing and purification challenges.
  • Design and execute experiments to characterize polymer systems and translate findings into technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing partners to deliver project objectives and business results.
  • Lead research projects and provide technical direction to laboratory technicians and junior team members.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, presenting conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders and management.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including ownership of process and analytical equipment, procedural documentation, and safety compliance.
  • Champion a strong safety culture through adherence to laboratory safety standards and continuous improvement of safe work practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline, or completion of a doctoral degree within three months of the anticipated start date.
  • Up to 4 years of relevant industrial experience, including full-time employment, industrial postdoctoral research, internships, or co-op experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic, project-driven environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively contribute to and lead technical teams.
  • Proven initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to drive projects forward.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in polymer synthesis, functionalization, characterization, or materials development.
  • Experience in process development or product development
  • Familiarity with ion exchange resin technology, separation science, or related purification technologies.
