Location: Onsite, 300 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH, 43215
Employment Classification: Full-Time
Annual Salary: $40,000-$50,000

Position Overview
The Parking and Operations Coordinator ensures parking operations and building support are safe, efficient, and welcoming for Guests, Museum programs, and special events. They are the primary liaison between the NVMM and the contracted parking provider, supporting the daily and event parking operations through planning, coordination, operational monitoring, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Safety Services, Events, Facilities, and Guest Experiences teams, this role delivers smooth arrivals and departures that contribute to a best-in-class Guest experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Parking and Vendor Coordination
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between the NVMM and the contracted parking provider, LAZ Parking.
    • Review and communicate daily and event-specific parking needs with internal teams and the parking partner to ensure appropriate staffing, guest assistance, access control, traffic flow, and signage.
    • Coordinate reserved parking, accessible parking, VIP needs, validations, and special parking instructions.
    • Address parking-related guest concerns professionally and escalate operational issues through appropriate channels, as needed.
    • Observe and communicate operational trends, guest experience feedback, and service opportunities related to parking.
    • Champion consistent parking operations that align with Museum service expectations, safety standards, and guest experience goals.
  • Event Support and Scheduling
    • Support parking operations across a varied schedule, including daily operations and special events.
    • Participate in pre-event planning and post-event feedback conversations to identify parking needs, arrival patterns, traffic concerns, and guest access considerations.
    • Oversee event parking set up, lot attendance, and breakdown as assigned.
    • Direct safe pedestrian and vehicle movement across parking areas, especially during high-volume events and peak arrival/departure periods.
  • Operations Support and Reporting
    • Communicate observed safety concerns promptly to Safety Services and appropriate Museum leadership.
    • Facilitate emergency procedures as needed, primarily directing pedestrians and vehicles during incidents or evacuations.
    • Assist Safety Services with operational support, rule enforcement, and property protection.
    • Maintain accurate operational records and incident notes related to all parking operations.
    • Prepare brief operational summaries or recommendations when requested.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, always maintaining clear and professional communications.

  • Established emotional intelligence remaining calm and exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing needs.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar, scheduling tools, and incident documentation.

  • Experience in parking operations, small and large events, facilities and venue coordination, hospitality, transportation, and/or security.
  • Experience in a museum, cultural institution, attraction, or mission-driven nonprofit environment.
  • Experience collaborating across departments to support security, events, or otherwise.
  • Fluency in other languages.
  • Interest in or connection to the organizationโ€™s mission (e.g., honoring Veterans and inspiring service).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Primarily based in outdoor areas, including varying weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, rain, snow) and museum spaces.
  • Available for a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to support museum operating hours and events.
  • Able to remain attentive and responsive while interacting with guests and supporting museum operations, standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Able to visually monitor parking areas, traffic flow, pedestrian movement, camera systems and respond quickly to changing conditions or emergencies. ย 
  • Able to communicate clearly via in-person or electronic devices in all environments, regular and noisy.
  • Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs.
  • May be required to operate basic safety, communication, or emergency response equipment in alignment with museum procedures.
