Job description

Purpose and Job Summary:

The Senor Associate will perform the loan servicing activities of the GSE Asset Management - Agency Risk team to monitor loan performance, collateral condition, and to protect the company from default. This position helps to monitor compliance with loan terms and government agency loan program guidelines and works with other LSAM associates to address financial/operational issues to avoid or cure defaults. The position coordinates and works with bankers, associates, external counsel, government agency personnel, and any other third parties to carry out post-closing requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform loan surveillance activities for student, seniors, and multifamily housing in compliance with Agency investor requirements. Tasks include but are not limited to: maintaining loan servicing files with detailed documentation in an organized manner, collecting and analyzing financials, communicating escrow analysis changes, delivering delinquency notices, and processing replacement reserve draws

  • Responsible for a portfolio size up to 40 loans with limited to complicated nonperforming characteristics

  • Independently process and document post-closing transactions including property management changes, collateral releases, assumptions and transfers

  • Independently process loan payoff and payoff by assignments by coordinating interdepartmental efforts and applicable internal and Agency approvals

  • Independently identify and assess loan risk and mitigants

  • Orchestrate loan workout activities with borrowers, operators, management agents, agencies, and legal counsel

  • Responsible for calculating quarterly specific reserve and analyze loss share liability

  • Conduct and write up MBA property inspections independently and monitor deferred maintenance repairs

  • Write up watchlist risk memos for quarterly risk meetings and present to senior management

  • Work professionally and harmoniously with team and coworkers

  • Travel Requirements - 30 %

  • Other projects and duties as assigned


Education, Skills and Experience:


Required:

  • More than 7 years of associate or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related area

  • MBA certified to independently conduct property inspections

  • Comprehensive understanding of multifamily real estate, loss mitigation terms, and agency life of loan functions and players

  • Ability to independently analyze real estate financials: Income Statement, Cashflow statement, Balance Sheet, Rent Roll

  • Comprehensive understanding of PSA/SSA and agency loan agreements to understand loan terms, covenants, and remedies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of servicer advancing on tax, insurance, and principal & interest as well as reimbursement process, with ability to reconcile

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and list other relevant systems or software

  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments, and to meet critical and established deadlines; Ability to manage multiple assignments ant transactions simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in the performance of daily activities

  • Professional business image and excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing (spelling, grammar, and punctuation)

  • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team

  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions; Ability to adjust priorities in a changing environment

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loan servicing and products, and/or CMBS loans in Special Servicing
