Job description

The FSQA Technician is responsible for ensuring that product is produced according to internal specifications, monitoring compliance to company policies and procedures, and ensuring that assigned areas are maintained in sanitary conditions at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct work in a safe manner and abide by all company safety policies
  • Uphold Birchwood Food Safety and Quality requirements at all times
  • Handle raw and cooked product
  • QA documentation is accurate and maintained at all times
  • Perform lab tests in a high paced, high volume environment, this may include:
    • Test products for physical characteristics such as dimensions, weight, color, case counts, cook performance, etc.
    • Pull products for E. coli O157:H7 testing as necessary
    • Pull samples for in-house or 3 rd party testing
  • Ensure compliance to specifications (legal, customer, and company)
  • Perform pre-op inspection as necessary.
  • Communicate OOS (out of specification) results to supervisor, places products on hold as necessary
  • Check to ensure proper functioning of equipment (X-ray, Metal Detectors, scales)
  • Perform line stat-up checks as necessary
  • Perform pre-operational inspection as necessary
  • Data entry
  • Lift up to 40 pounds or more
  • Stand for extended periods at a time
  • May require squatting, twisting, reaching, or bending
  • May require use of ladders, platform steps, or ship ladders
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Able to keep calm in stressful situations
  • Able to read & write fluently in English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Competent abilities with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Manufacturing experience preferred (Food or Pharma.)
