The User Experience Development Test Engineer supports a global automotive company in Raymond, OH by validating the exterior marketability of vehicles against model-specific targets to meet or exceed customer expectations. This role leads testing activities, gathering both computational and physical vehicle data for exterior systems. When performance issues arise, the engineer develops and implements countermeasures in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment with performance, business, and project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and analyze engineering data using pre-set tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
- Responsible for planning, preparing, and coordinating various aspects of exterior performance tests including arrangement of facilities, requesting technician support, and acquiring testing materials.
- Physically support tests including confirmation that test setups are correct and that test plans are understood and executed to intent.
- Prepare moderately complex documentation for review by technical leadership to record and submit all necessary development / testing / research information per the determined schedule.
- Help coordinate and execute root cause analysis, countermeasure activites, and improvement intiatives to technical leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years engineering experience based on education, co-op/internship included.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
- Experience or knowledge with any of the following software or similar:
- 3D CAD surface modeling CATiA or SolidWorks
- Data acquisition software
- FEA Software Abaqus, Nastran, Hypermesh, Ansa, Meta, LS-DYNA
- Scripting in Java, Python, MATLAB
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in data analysis and communication of complex information to engineering management is desired.
