Job description

Overview:

Hixen Search Group has partnered with an established and growing local service and logistics company in their search for a Controller. This is a newly created leadership position that will oversee the accounting and finance function while partnering directly with company leadership to improve financial reporting, processes, systems, and overall business performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the monthly close and financial reporting process
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
  • Oversee billing, AR, and day-to-day accounting operations
  • Convert the organization from cash to accrual accounting
  • Improve the chart of accounts, reconciliations, internal controls, and reporting
  • Develop KPI, job profitability, and margin reporting for leadership
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems, automation, and process improvements
  • Serve as a financial business partner to leadership and operations

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience owning the monthly close and financial reporting
  • Proven experience building or improving accounting processes and controls
  • Job costing, project accounting, or service-based costing experience
  • Cash-to-accrual conversion experience
  • Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills
  • Strong people leadership and business-partnering capabilities
  • CPA or CMA is a plus
  • Logistics, construction, field service, or similar industry experience is a plus
  • $130-150K base + bonus
