Position Summary
The Planning/Layout/Design Specialist is involved in the planning, layout, design, coordination and pre-fabrication on projects. This person has a thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains regular contact with project personnel as well as professional relationships with designers, owners, and subcontractors
  • Outlines job specifications and reviews material submittals for project requirements
  • Supports preconstruction, pre-fabrication and construction teams with electrical/systems/ construction related issues
  • Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials
  • Educates field personnel on layout/design processes and supports project efforts
  • Creates detailed layout drawings while adhering to company standards
  • Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts
  • Communicate ideas for continuous improvement in standards and workflows
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
Education
  • Minimum of 5 years field construction experience or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Required
  • Experience with team collaboration
  • Proficient in reading and understanding of all forms of construction documents
  • Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model

Skills & Competencies
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as BIM360, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel and Outlook, Navisworks, Revit, and file sharing platforms
  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills
  • A commitment to continued learning and development
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Additional Requirements
  • Pre-employment drug screen required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day
  • Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
