Job description

Job Summary:
Provide supportive care in a medical detox and residential environment as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in Ohio. Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure patients consistently receive safe and effective medication administration and support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, as permitted by Ohio law.
  • Observe patients for possible drug reactions or side effects and immediately report concerns to nursing staff.
  • Carry out tasks associated with medication administration, including obtaining patient vital signs, calculating medication dosages, and maintaining medication cart inventory.
  • Record all medication administration in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate any changes in patient condition or medication response to the nursing team.
  • Maintain a warm, supportive, and calm environment for patients.
  • Act quickly and appropriately in emergencies.
  • Safeguard confidential patient information unless disclosure is necessary for patient safety and welfare.
  • Follow federal, state, and agency regulations to protect the health and safety of patients and staff.
  • Uphold ethical and legal standards in all interactions and tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
  • Dispensing medications as directed by a licensed nurse.
  • Observing and reporting medication effects or adverse reactions.
  • Completing documentation and medication-related tasks accurately.
  • Supporting the nursing team in monitoring and managing patient medication regimens.
Required License(s)/Certification(s):
  • Certified Medication Aide credential, as recognized by the Ohio Department of Health.
  • BLS Provider credentialed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Must have current CMA certification.
  • Previous experience as a Medication Aide preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
