Job Summary:

This position is responsible for developing innovative products for the restaurant industry. Layout Designers serve as the primary designer on product development projects, foodservice layout plans, and customer requests for technical information, and are responsible for creating detailed models, floorplans, presentation decks, and technical drawings that are shared with clients for review and approval. Layout Designers play a key role in translating client needs into practical, functional designs and layouts that align with company standards for quality and innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use computer assisted design/drafting CAD software to develop models and drawings for customer approval
  • Collect and compile information to prepare for design specifications
  • Revise design parameters based on feedback, project changing requirements, and client expectations
  • Consult and collaborate with manufacturers; evaluate and recommend material selections in coordination with custom solutions
  • Review designs, architectural plans, renderings, and visualizations for compliance with principles, standards, and requirements
  • Present and review models in native software with internal and external teams
  • Respond to cross-functional department questions or requests
  • Participate in weekly meetings and project management key milestone meetings
  • Perform other tasks to support new business and account services as needed

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum - 2 Year / Associate Degree
  • Minimum - 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient computer skills; ability to use MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Technical ability to learn and use a variety of software programs, such as SyteLine
  • Ability to use basic 3D Solid Modeling CAD, such as SolidWorks, REVIT, SketchUp, Inventor, ProE, Solid Edge, etc.
  • Ability to read architectural blueprints and foodservice drawings
  • Knowledge of foodservice industry standards and related manufacturing materials
  • Knowledge of compliance considerations for the foodservice industry, such as ETL (Edison Testing Laboratories) and NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) regulations
  • Analytical; synthesizes complex and diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures
  • Design oriented; generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies a variety of principles and attention to detail in the design process
