Job description

Position Summary

The Junior Varsity Volleyball Head Coach is responsible for developing student-athletes within the high school volleyball program while supporting the overall vision established by the Varsity Head Coach. This role focuses on skill development, preparation for varsity competition, and building a strong foundation for long-term program success, all while reflecting the mission and values of Liberty Christian Academy.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Support and Alignment
  • Support and implement the overall vision of the volleyball program as established by the Varsity Head Coach.
  • Ensure alignment in terminology, systems of play, and cultural expectations across all levels of the program.
  • Assist in preparing athletes to transition successfully to the varsity level.
  • Promote longterm athlete development and program retention.
  • Coaching and Instruction
  • Plan and conduct structured, developmentfocused practices that emphasize fundamentals, consistency, and game understanding.
  • Teach volleyball skills, systems, and situational awareness appropriate for the junior varsity level.
  • Develop game plans consistent with the varsity program’s philosophy.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support individual and team growth.
  • Identify areas of improvement and communicate progress to athletes and the Varsity Head Coach.
  • Player Development and Evaluation
  • Assist in evaluating athletes and providing input on team placement and progression.
  • Focus on improving technical consistency, volleyball IQ, and competitive mindset.
  • Reinforce accountability, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Varsity Head Coach and Athletic Department on scheduling, logistics, and equipment needs.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSAA regulations and school policies.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding expectations, development, and team updates.
  • Spiritual and Character Development
  • Integrate the school’s Christian mission into daily practices and competition.
  • Model Christcentered leadership and encourage spiritual and personal growth among studentathletes.
  • Qualifications
  • Coaching experience in volleyball, preferably at the high school, middle school, or competitive club level.
  • Strong teaching mindset with a focus on athlete development.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under the leadership of the Varsity Head Coach.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Liberty Christian Academy.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior head or assistant coaching experience.
  • Current Pupil Activity Permit.
  • Experience working within a vertically aligned athletic program.
