Job description

Position Overview:
The Pruning & Plant Care Supervisor is responsible for work along with and leading and managing crews focused on ornamental pruning, plant health care, and detailed landscape maintenance. This role ensures high-quality horticultural standards, proper plant care techniques, and efficient crew performance while maintaining safety and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Crew Leadership & Operations:
  • Supervise and lead pruning and plant care crews on a daily basis.
  • Train team members on proper pruning techniques, plant identification, and care standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed to company and client expectations.
Pruning & Plant Care:
  • Perform and oversee structural and ornamental pruning of trees, shrubs, and hedges.
  • Monitor plant health and diagnose issues such as pests, disease, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Implement plant care programs including fertilization, integrated pest management (IPM), and seasonal treatments.
  • Ensure proper timing and methods are used for all pruning and horticultural practices.
Quality Control:
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work meets company standards.
  • Address and resolve any quality or performance issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed notes on plant conditions and services performed.
Client Interaction:
  • Communicate with clients regarding plant health, recommendations, and service updates.
  • Provide expert guidance on improving landscape appearance and longevity.
Safety & Equipment:
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment (pruners, hedge trimmers, sprayers, etc).
  • Conduct daily safety checks and job site hazard assessments.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or plant care.
  • Strong knowledge of plant identification, pruning techniques, and plant health care practices.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose plant health issues and recommend solutions.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in horticulture, arboriculture (e.g., ISA Certified Arborist), or related field.
  • Experience with plant health care programs and pesticide application licensing.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
