Job Description Summary:
Using the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standard of Practice, the Nursing Informatics RN serves in an infrastructure role across the organization by specializing in patient care processes/clinician workflow. This role serves as a liaison between the clinical staff and the Information Technology department to coordinate the operations of advanced clinical information systems. Leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development and implementation of the electronic medical record and other clinical technologies.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates the implementation, effective utilization and on-going support of clinical information and information systems for the provision of effective and safe patient care.
  • Assists in the evaluation, selection and acquisition of information technology vendors and clinical hardware devices, application software and enhancements to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of health informatics to facilitate effective integration of data and information to support healthcare providers and patients in their decision-making.
  • Serves as a resource for clinicians on the clinical information system and patient care processes to promote optimal care, reduce errors and achieve organizational goals. Provides direction to clinicians in identification of information system needs.
  • Participates in improvement projects and on assigned committees to provide content expertise related to electronic medical record while maintaining patient safety, clinician support and achieve care improvements.
  • Works with functions of a specific clinical application system and sub-systems.

Education Requirement:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing required. Master of Science in Nursing, preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio.
Certifications:
Certification in Nursing Informatics through the ANCC, preferred.
Skills:
Competency in nursing clinical practice and professional development applicable to unit/area assigned.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years' experience as an RN required, pediatric experience, preferred.
