Job description

FASTSIGNS Westerville is hiring a full-time Sign Production Specialist to join our growing production team!

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, operating equipment, solving problems, and seeing a project go from a digital file or idea to a finished physical product.

Our production environment includes everything from large-format printing and vinyl graphics to CNC routing, laser cutting/engraving, finishing and sign assembly. Every day can bring something different, so we're looking for someone who is technically curious, detail-oriented, dependable and excited to learn how things work.

Previous sign-industry experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person. Experience in printing, fabrication, CNC/router operation, laser cutting, woodworking, manufacturing, vinyl graphics, screen printing, 3D printing, machine operation or another hands-on production environment can all provide a great foundation for this position.
Benefits/Perks
  • Competitive Pay
  • Paid Vacation and Holidays
  • Performance Bonus Opportunities
  • Ongoing Training and Development
  • Opportunities to Learn Multiple Production Technologies
  • Career Growth Opportunities
What You'll Do
A FASTSIGNS Sign Production Specialist helps turn customer ideas and artwork into finished signs and graphics. Responsibilities include:
  • Learn, operate and maintain a variety of production equipment, including large-format printers, flatbed printers, CNC/vision routers, laser equipment, laminators and vinyl cutting equipment
  • Read and accurately follow work orders, measurements, specifications and approved artwork
  • Prepare materials and substrates for production, including cutting, cleaning, masking and other preparation
  • Load and handle materials such as vinyl, acrylic, aluminum composite, PVC, coroplast and other sign substrates
  • Weed, mask and apply computer-cut vinyl and printed graphics
  • Laminate, mount, trim and finish printed graphics
  • Assemble finished signage using appropriate hardware, fasteners and components
  • Perform quality-control checks throughout production to ensure finished products meet specifications
  • Identify production or equipment problems and troubleshoot or communicate issues before proceeding
  • Use computers and production software to prepare and process jobs for equipment
  • Maintain equipment and keep production and storage areas clean and organized
  • Work closely with our design, sales, production and installation teams to keep projects moving accurately and on schedule
  • Assist with other production, fabrication and finishing needs as projects require
What We're Looking For
You don't need to already know every machine in our shop. We're looking for someone with the aptitude and mindset to learn them.

Our ideal candidate:
  • Enjoys hands-on work and making physical products
  • Has strong mechanical or technical aptitude and enjoys figuring out how things work
  • Is comfortable learning and operating computers, software, tools and production equipment
  • Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Can follow work orders and established processes without skipping steps
  • Is willing to ask questions and verify information rather than guess
  • Approaches troubleshooting methodically and knows when to stop and ask for help
  • Is comfortable performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Can work with urgency when needed without sacrificing quality
  • Is dependable, organized and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Wants to learn new equipment, develop additional skills and grow within a production environment

Experience That Can Translate Well
Previous sign-production experience is preferred, but not required.

We'd especially like to hear from candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Sign or graphics production
  • Large-format or commercial printing
  • CNC or router operation
  • Laser cutting or engraving
  • Vinyl cutters/plotters or vinyl application
  • Manufacturing or machine operation
  • Woodworking or fabrication
  • Screen printing
  • 3D printing
  • Print finishing, laminating or mounting
  • Adobe Illustrator or other design/production software
  • Other hands-on technical or production work
Don't have sign-industry experience but recognize your background in this list? We encourage you to apply.

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on production position. Candidates must be able to:
  • Spend significant portions of the workday standing and moving throughout the production area
  • Bend, reach and work over production tables
  • Safely handle sheets, rolls and other production materials
  • Perform repetitive hand movements associated with vinyl, finishing and assembly
  • Safely lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Safely operate light power tools and production equipment after training
Why FASTSIGNS Westerville?
If you like variety and enjoy learning how things are made, sign production offers a little bit of everything.
One day you may be producing decals or yard signs. The next you could be routing dimensional signage, engraving acrylic, producing ADA signage, printing large-format graphics or assembling a completely custom project.
We provide training and opportunities to develop experience across different equipment, materials and production processes. We're looking for someone who wants to become a strong, versatile member of our production team and continue building their skills over time.
If you enjoy working with your hands, learning equipment and taking pride in seeing a finished product you helped create, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today!
