:
The Medication Aide Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students in the principles and practices of medication administration. The instructor ensures students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to become certified medication aides and provide safe, effective care to patients. This position involves delivering engaging lessons, creating course materials, evaluating student performance, and maintaining compliance with state and institutional regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Instructional Delivery:
    • Conduct lectures, demonstrations, and practical training in medication administration.
    • Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  2. Course Development:
    • Develop and update curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials to meet regulatory standards.
    • Ensure course content aligns with state and certification requirements.
  3. Student Assessment:
    • Evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and practical evaluations.
    • Provide constructive feedback and additional support when necessary.
  4. Compliance and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and certifications.
    • Ensure training programs adhere to state and institutional guidelines.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work with other instructors and administrative staff to coordinate schedules and resources.
    • Participate in professional development and stay updated on medication aide best practices and regulatory changes.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Assist in the recruitment of students by participating in informational sessions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education:
  • A licensed nurse RN with a valid, current license in the state of employment.
  • Completion of a Medication Aide Instructor certification program (if required by state).
  • Completion of a Train the Trainer Program
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including medication administration.
  • Teaching or training experience preferred but not mandatory.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration principles, safety protocols, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate adult learners.
  • Proficient in using technology for instructional purposes (e.g., virtual classrooms, presentation tools).
Other Requirements:
  • Must meet state requirements to teach Medication Aide courses.
  • Flexibility to teach during evenings or weekends, if required.
  • CPR/BLS certification (preferred).
