Position Charter

The PLC Programming Engineer develops PLC logic to support new part implementation, trouble-shooting, and continuous improvement of Tosoh’s industrial automation systems.

Reporting Relationships

The PLC Programming Engineer reports to the Lean Engineering Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Applies advanced knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC platform to design, develop, and maintain programs for Tosoh’s automated manufacturing cells.
  • Creates and modifies HMI and SCADA to develop intuitive operator interfaces.
  • Collaborates with robot programmers to integrate PLC logic with robot programs.
  • Integrates peripheral equipment into automated cells, such as vision systems, end-of-arm tooling, and safety scanners.
  • Applies SQL, Python, other similar programming languages to perform advanced data analysis from automated manufacturing cells.
  • Drives continuous improvement through improved efficiencies in programming sequences.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety requirements. Communicates identified risks to leadership and assists in resolution.
  • Completes all 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) standards to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Contributes to culture through alignment with company values and code of conduct. Maintains a positive attitude, displays enthusiasm for assigned tasks, and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
  • Other related duties.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC / Rockwell Automation platform
  • Advanced knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional team and collaborate on programming team
  • Strong problem-solving skills to analyze complex systems and data.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and AutoCAD models

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as defined by process.
