Mechanical Design Engineer

Radian Robotics

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer will plan and design tools, machines, and other mechanical equipment, oversee the manufacturing and installation of new or modified mechanical components or systems, and provide technical expertise for any mechanical related issues.


Responsibilities

· Creating 2D and 3D CAD data for robotic installations

· Communicating with Sales and customers to generate machine layouts

· Perform as-built updates

· Detailing existing components

· Assisting in developing new product groups

· Participate in project review meetings

· Preparation and review of engineering submittals

· Support Sales for all mechanical design requirements

· Coordinate with personnel from various departments to meet the project specifications

· Support of project installations onsite ensuring they meet overall safety, reliability, and performance

· Occasional travel within North America may be required

· Prepare machinery reports, manuals, and other documentation

· Use Solidworks to create new designs, communicate ideas, and/or document as-built details.

Experience/Qualifications

· College or university degree or diploma in mechanical engineering

· 5 – 7 years experience with industrial automation is an asset

· Knowledge of fluid power systems, fittings, and components

· 3D CAD modeling experience; Solidworks preferred

· Strong communication skills and Microsoft Office

· Hands-on experience in machining, fabrication, or construction would be an asset

Job Details

· This is a full-time in office employee position.

· The job may require some travel comprising up to 10% of your time. Travel will vary depending on many factors; however, we wish to emphasize planned travel during the week and minimize weekends or long-term commitments.

· Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and weekends only as needed.

· Time sheets must be submitted by Monday of the following working week to the Mechanical Engineering Manager for sign-off.

· All travel expenses are reimbursed at cost.

· Phone, Laptop, and all software required to perform your duties will be paid for by Radian.

· Robot and PLC training will be provided by the company if needed.

· The Mechanical Engineering Manager should be included in all correspondence with customers or end users.
