Position Details:

Job Title: Data Architect

Location: Columbus, OH 43215

Duration: 12+ months (Strong possibility for an extension)

Job Description:

Ohio Facilities Construction Commission is looking for someone to drive the technical architecture design in creating an Enterprise Data Warehouse for the Commission.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Data-related technologies, design architectures, and model data in a manner that is efficient, scalable, and supportable for a data warehouse.

• Creating a tiered enterprise data management architecture using a combination of relational, dimensional and flat data models, depending on business context, type of data and use cases

• With the given data sources available, create the necessary data mapping and transformation rules and assist the technical team in staging the data for advanced reports/analytics & other needs.

• Maintain cross referenced metadata on data sources, interfaces and systems of record and systems of reference if needed.

• Ensure data quality rules are enforced and identify appropriate mechanisms to execute and update results of data quality checks.

• Recommend and bring data management best practices to stitch together disparate data and analytics requirements and reporting needs for the organization

• Work with leadership to influence the direction of our data technology platform.

• Establish & document database process that currently extracts the data from the existing system for reporting purposes.

• Help set the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Data/ETL/BI solutions within the enterprise.

• Prepare and present report on analyses, findings and project progress to management.

Mandatory Requirements/Time:

• Expert in data architecture concepts that support an Enterprise Data Warehouse

• Advanced proficiency in data modeling for dimensional and big data platforms

• Expert in ETL best practices and experience in designing and implementing ETLs and data migrations

• Strong skills in modeling data for modern systems and distributed application architectures

• Expertise with data modeling techniques (i.e., Star, Snowflake, etc.) as well as data warehousing & data mart principles and methodologies.

• Experience in analyzing structured & unstructured data in relational, NoSQL, non-relational data stores

• Experience with reporting/analysis/analytics tools such as SSRS, Power BI, Micro Strategy, Tableau, etc.

• In-depth experience modeling data requirements based on complex business needs across multiple information domains.

• Experience with resolving data anomalies and conducting data integration analysis

• Hands on experience with integration tools (DTS, SSIS, Data Stage, etc.)

• Experience working in an agile or continuous improvement environment

• Specific experience in metadata and master data management

• Writing, troubleshooting and optimizing SQL queries.
