Health Information Technician

This position works in the storeroom as a medical/medical records inventory clerk. The ideal candidate should have experience in Excel. Candidates should be aware that this position operates within an adult prison system, even though it involves a hospital environment. They will be exposed to and work around incarcerated individuals. Although the position has administrative responsibilities, it involves direct interaction with inmates. Work attire will consist of scrubs at all times. Health Information Technicians perform routine administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of offices. Duties may vary depending on the specific setting and requirements. In addition to administrative responsibilities, Health Information Technicians may be asked to cover short-staffed units. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Responsibilities include answering phones and processing verbal orders. Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory levels is required. Ensuring availability of essential equipment for patient care is part of the role. Identifying and addressing equipment functionality or supply inventory issues is necessary. The technician promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Unpacking and checking supplies upon receipt while reporting discrepancies is needed. Cycle counting may be required periodically. Responding to customer and supplier inquiries about order status and changes is part of the job. Retrieving requisitions from the electronic supply system and delivering them to the requesting department is required. Packing supplies for return or shipment is part of the responsibilities. Correct return labels must be ensured. Monitoring inventory quantities and notifying when reorders are necessary is crucial. Applying a First In First Out rule for stock rotation is necessary. Expired items must be documented and packaged for removal. Maintaining an approachable customer service attitude is essential. Issuing inventory and keeping records for each location is part of the duties. Monitoring inventory levels and restocking as needed is required. Developing and implementing inventory control systems is expected. Liaising and negotiating with vendors to ensure quality stock purchases is part of the role. Coordinating logistics of purchase orders and stock transfers is necessary. Forecasting supply and demand requirements is required for stock availability. Tracking orders to prevent overstocking and out-of-stock scenarios is essential. Analyzing supply chain data to identify and resolve issues is part of the responsibilities. Generating purchase and pricing reports and conducting supply chain analysis is required. Regular stock checks and reporting issues to the supervisor are necessary. Maintaining and updating records of purchase orders and inventory is expected.
