Job description

Mechanical System Engineer (Entry-Level)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Mechanical System Engineer to serve as Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer to join our team located in Heath, Ohio (35 minutes East of Columbus, Ohio) to develop and carryout overhaul strategies, both hardware and software impacting, for support equipment used in the mechanical and electronics testing of U.S. Strategic Deterrence Systems for the U.S. Air Force Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Guidance Systems, U.S. Air Force & U.S. Navy Guidance Systems, and other military programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review and update drawings and documents, develop process improvements, capture process changes, solve problems as obsolete assemblies and instruments are replaced, and conduct support equipment overhauls, test and validation.
  • Collaboration with program management, other functional engineering groups, operations, cross-functional teams, and other functional counterparts.
  • Support development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment.
  • Support development, maintenance, or modification of system designs and proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
  • Perform detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.
  • Support team in performing spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms and ordinance systems.
  • Assist in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Related engineering experience through internships, co-ops, or academic projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments and disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics).
  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical component and system design, analysis, and integration.
  • Experience working on government or DoD programs.
